When traveling to Canada, business visitors do not need to obtain a work permit. A business visitor is a foreign national who comes to Canada to take part in international business activities without being part of the Canadian labour market. They usually stay in Canada for few days or a few weeks but are eligible to stay for up to six months. Business visitors do not need a work permit, but in some cases, they must receive a TRV (Temporary Resident Visa) before traveling to Canada.

BUSINESS VISITOR
The following are the main reasons why foreign national may come to Canada as a business visitor:
- Look for ways to grow his/her business
- Invest or
- Develop business relationships
As a business visitor, a person must show that:
- He/she plans to stay for less than six months
- Does not plan to enter the Canadian labour market
- His/her main place of business, and source of income and profits, is outside Canada
- Has all the supporting documents
- Meets Canada’s basic entry requirements:
- Has a valid travel document
- Has enough money for his/her stay and to return home
- Plans to leave Canada at the end of his/her visit and
- Is not a criminal, security or health risk to Canadians
Note: Foreign nationals who plan to stay longer than six months or enter the Canadian labour market may be considered as temporary workers and may require applying for a Temporary Work Permit.
