MANITOBA PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAM

The MPNP for Skilled workers is locally driven and based on the needs of Manitoba employers. The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program for Skilled Workers selects and nominates applicants who have a strong connection to the province and sufficient skills, education and training, work experience and official language proficiency to make an immediate and ongoing contribution to the Manitoba economy and our community at large.

The Immigration through the MPNP for Skilled Workers is a three-step process. Eligible applicants have to submit an Expression of Interest under MPNP, where their profile will be placed in a pool for up to one year with other eligible candidates. The highest-scoring candidates in the pool will be invited on a regular basis to provide a full application to the MPNP. Following a thorough assessment, the MPNP will nominate successful candidates to make a separate application to the Government of Canada for permanent resident. There are two pathways to Manitoba under the MPNP for Skilled Workers Stream:

  • Skilled Workers in Manitoba
  • Skilled Workers Overseas

1. MPNP - SKILLED WORKERS IN MANITOBA

To be eligible for this program you must be a qualified temporary foreign worker or international student graduate who is currently working in Manitoba and has been offered a permanent job with your Manitoba employer (after you have completed at least six months continuous full-time employment).

Skilled Workers in Manitoba are not subject to a points-based assessment.

Employer Requirements:

  1. Must be incorporated or registered by or under an act of the legislature of a province or the Parliament of Canada
  2. Has an established production capability, plant or place of business in Manitoba
  3. Demonstrate the ability to offer a full-time and long-term employment in Manitoba

2. MPNP - SKILLED WORKERS OVERSEAS

To be eligible for this program every applicant must demonstrate an established connection to Manitoba. A strong connection to Manitoba may be demonstrated through three different ways:

  • The support of family members or friends;
  • Previous education or work experience in the province;
  • An Invitation to Apply received directly from the MPNP as part of a Strategic Recruitment Initiative.

Manitoba Supporter and Experience is a connection; to be eligible for the MPNP applicant must score at least 60 points based on five factors; language, employability, education, age and adaptability according to the MPNP Self-assessment Worksheet. If you do not have a connection to Manitoba, you are not eligible under this stream, regardless of your points total. The MPNP will complete a full assessment of any application it receives and scores each candidate based on the information supporting documentation.

ELIGIBLE DEPENDENTS

When you seek Canadian permanent resident status through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), you may include your family in application as well.

Eligible accompanying dependents are:

  • Your spouse (by marriage or by common-law partnership of at least one year)
  • A dependent child, if he/she is:
    1. Under 19 years old, and does not have a spouse or partner, or
    2. 19 years old or over, and has depended largely on the parent’s financial support since before the age of 19 because of a physical or mental condition
