ALBERTA IMMIGRANT NOMINEE PROGRAM

Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) is an economic immigration program operated by the Government of Alberta with the Government of Canada’s department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). This program supports Alberta’s economic growth by attracting and retaining work-ready immigrants to the province.

A) AINP - EMPLOYER - DRIVEN STREAM

The Employer-driven stream is one of the three AINP programs that support Alberta’s economic growth by attracting and retaining work-ready immigrants to the province. The AINP Employer-driven stream is for:

  • Alberta Employers who want to retain a foreign worker on a permanent, full-time basis
  • Foreign workers with a permanent, full-time job offer from an Alberta Employer who intends to live and work in Alberta permanently

Under Employer-Driven Stream Alberta Employer must make a permanent, full-time job offer to a potential candidate under one of three categories:

  1. Skilled Worker Category
  2. International Graduate Category
  3. Semi-Skilled Worker Category

Note: There are specific requirements or criteria for employer or candidate under each of these categories.

1. AINP – SKILLED WORKER CATEGORY

This is a program for candidates who have a permanent, full-time job offer from their Alberta Employer in a skilled occupation that requires secondary school or/and occupation-specific training, or on the-job-training and that falls under National Occupational Classification (NOC 0, A, B).

2. AINP – INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE CATEGORY

This Category is for candidates who have recently graduated from a Canadian post-secondary institution and have a permanent, full-time job offer from their Alberta Employer in a NOC skill-level 0, A, B or C occupation.

3. AINP – SEMI-SKILLED WORKER CATEGORY

This program is for candidates who have a permanent, full-time job offer from an Alberta Employer in a semi-skilled occupation (NOC C or D) that is eligible under the AINP. Only certain occupations are eligible.

Eligible Industries:

  • Food and Beverage
  • Hotel and Lodging
  • Manufacturing
  • Trucking
  • Foodservices (pilot project)

Please note that the Alberta Employer and Candidate must meet certain requirements under the specific occupation within those industries.

B) AINP - STRATEGIC RECRUITMENT STREAM

The Employer-driven stream is one of the three AINP programs that support Alberta’s economic growth by attracting and retaining work-ready immigrants to the province. The AINP Employer-driven stream is for:

  • Alberta Employers who want to retain a foreign worker on a permanent, full-time basis
  • Foreign workers with a permanent, full-time job offer from an Alberta Employer who intends to live and work in Alberta permanently

Under Employer-Driven Stream Alberta Employer must make a permanent, full-time job offer to a potential candidate under one of three categories:

  1. Skilled Worker Category
  2. International Graduate Category
  3. Semi-Skilled Worker Category

1. AINP – COMPULSORY AND OPTIONAL TRADES CATEGORY

This category is for candidates who have a valid trade certificate in a Compulsory or Optional Trade in Alberta issued or recognized by Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT). A certain criteria apply to all supervisors, foremen and trades people working in a compulsory or optional trade (PDF) in Alberta.

2. AINP – ENGINEERING OOCUPATION CATEGORY

This category is for candidates who have credentials as an engineer, designer or drafter and Alberta work experience in an eligible. To be eligible under AINP Engineering Occupation Category you must:

  • Be currently residing in Alberta
  • Intend to live permanently in Alberta
  • Have related education/training and experience as an engineer, designer or drafter
  • Be currently working or have worked within the last two years in Alberta
  • Be on the AINP Strategic Recruitment Stream Engineering Occupations List

3. AINP – POST GRADUATE WORKER PROGRAM

This category is for candidates who have graduated from a recognized post-secondary institution in Alberta, are currently working in Alberta in an eligible occupation, and have a valid Post-Graduation Work Permit from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).
